Al Azhar Sheikh urges boycott of the press insulting the prophet
Egypt-Regional, Religion, 4/23/2007

Grand Sheikh of al-Azhar Mohamed Sayed Tantawi, ascertained that any abuse against the holy prophet and his companions in some papers and magazines is a kind of ugliness, adding that he who promotes them is a blasphemous void of all virtues.

He stressed the fact that it is better not to purchase any of those papers or use them to publish ads. Boycotting them is the best way to confront them.

Al-Azhar grand Sheikh called on all citizens in all walks of life to cooperate together each in his own field. "Nations where spirit of cooperation spreads can achieve progress and prosperity." He stated this at religious celebration in Sohag two days ago.

He also said that love and cooperation are traits of modest and wise nations that never know vanity or haughtiness that destroy them in the long run, adding that difference of creeds does not prevent cooperation for public interest away from foolish narrow-minded racism
