Iran's envoy to Saudi Arabia: US unable to guarantee security
Saudi Arabia-Iran-USA, Politics, 4/23/2007
An Iranian diplomat said today that the US is not capable of guaranteeing Middle East security, peace and stability due to its support for Israel.
Iran's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mohammad Hosseini had said in a meeting with chief editor of Saudi daily "Algiers." Hosseini said that a brief look at the past will reveal the role and influence of foreigners, especially the US, in growing tension, discord and conflicts in the region.
He said that Iran and Saudi Arabia are seeking a common objective, which is to attain an ever-lasting security in the region without foreigners' intervention.
He added that Iran and Saudi Arabia have always been a thorn in the eyes of enemies for having many economic, historical and cultural potential.
"Enemies of Islam have dragged regional states into wars and bloodshed through their satanic plots," he noted, adding that more deplorable is that some people in the region shed blood of Muslim brethren by fanning religious differences.
"Enemies spare no efforts to divide Muslims and what officials of Iran and Saudi Arabia are looking for are Muslims' unity and the interest and fortune of the region and the world of Islam," commented the diplomat.
The Iranian ambassador said that now, the ulama, thinkers and the scientific, cultural and religious figures of Iran and Saudi Arabia have necessary will to discuss issues of mutual concern with an aim of reaching mutual understanding.
Elsewhere in the interview, Hosseini called on Muslim world media not to fall into the trap of enemies' media, especially the Zionist ones.
On his part, editor-in-chief of Algiers Khalid al-Malek said that Iran and Saudi Arabia are two important and influential states of the region. "Foreigners do not have any good intention towards us and their presence in the region just escalates tension and discord. Enemies of Islam do not wish to see powerful Iran because a strong Iran will be in favor of Muslims."
