Iran's gas export to reach 492mcm per day in two decades
Regional-Iran, Economics, 4/16/2007
Gas export from Iran is predicted to reach a total of 492 million cubic meters (mcm) a day as envisaged in the 20-Year Vision Plan (2005-2025).
Of this amount, some 188 million cubic meters of natural gas was exported in the form of LNG and 304 million cubic meters of the energy exported through pipelines.
According to the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), the company had, in its outlook plan, envisaged the export of 13 million cubic meters of gas a day during March 2004-2005 which should be expanded to 100 million within four years through pipeline.
The amount of Iran's gas export has been predicted at 190, 303 and 304 million cubic meters a day in 2014, 2019 and 2025 respectively as well.
Based on the assessment, export of LNG will start at the amount of 188 million cubic meters a day in 2014 and continue the same figure in 2014.
However, the export of gas is currently conducted via pipeline to Turkey, therefore, achieving a part of export objectives in the two next decades will be materialized with the completion of gas export projects from Iran to Armenia as well as India and Pakistan.
Iran hopes that the development of the three phases of 11, 12 and 13 of the South Pars will help the implementation of LNG export programs.
