Egypt-Bahrain, Politics, 4/9/2007

Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit returned home on yesterday evening from Manama, wrapping up a two-day visit to Bahrain.

During his stay, Abul-Gheit headed the Egyptian delegation to the 6th session of the Egyptian-Bahraini committee. Seven memos of understanding in addition to other agreements and protocols on cooperation in various sectors were signed during the meetings.

Abul-Gheit was received by Bahraini Crown Prince Sheikh Salman Bin Mohammed al-Khalifa and Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa Bin Salman al-Khalifa.

Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Alaa al-Hadidi said that Abul-Gheit also held talks with his Bahraini counterpart Sheikh Khaled bin Ahmed al-Khalifa on the recent developments in the region.

The talks, he pointed out, focused on the Iranian nuclear file and the situation in Iraq. Also, Bahraini Deputy Premier Sheikh Mohamed Bin Mubarak al-Khalifa received Abul-Gheit, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Mubarak al-Khalifa asserted the depth and strength of the Egyptian-Bahriani relations and the importance of the meetings held by this committee in developing and enhancing bilateral cooperation in the various fields in the service of the joint interests.
