Syrian president, PM visit Iranian project in Halab

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad and Prime Minister Naji al-Otari and Iran's Deputy Minister for Energy Hamid Chitchian yesterday inspected work on a project to construct a tunnel to supply water to the southern part of Syria's Halab province.
The project is being implemented by the Iranian Sabir International Company.
Syrian Minister of Agriculture Adil Safir and Minister of Irrigation Nadir al-Buni as well as Iranian Ambassador to Damascus Mohammad-Hassan Akhtari accompanied the Syrian president in his inspection trip.
Al-Assad praised the services of engineers and staff of Sabir International Company, and said implementation of development projects of the kind using modern engineering methods demonstrate Iran's high technical expertise and potential of its companies.
The 5,400m tunnel will pipe water from two dams in northern Syria to Halab in the southern part of the country.
Bilateral cooperation between Tehran and Damascus in industrial projects and export of technical and engineering services, completed or still under implementation, by Iranian companies has been valued at around 1 billion dollars.
