Lebanese cleric says Arab summit should not help Israel
Lebanon-Regional, Politics, 3/20/2007
Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah, a prominent Lebanese Shiite cleric, warned that the Arab summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, can turn into a bridge to save Israel after its defeat from Islamic resistance in Lebanon.
Referring to Israel's domestic situation, the major cleric said Monday, "the US is trying to save Israel from its current chaotic situation and change the nature of political issues into religious ones and cause disunity among Shiites and Sunni Muslims."
Fadlallah added the Arab summit is a place to make concessions to Israel and ignore Arab nations' right and since the Arab meeting in Rabat this trend has been continuing.
