Scores of Palestinians arrested, schools and houses turned into detention centers in Nablus
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 2/26/2007

The Israeli occupation forces arrested today morning scores of Palestinians and seized control on tens of houses and two High schools in the West Bank city of Nablus, local sources said.

Israeli troops conducted a wide arrest campaign in the city that exceeded over hundred citizens, who were taken into Hawwara camp, south east Nablus.

In the meantime, Israeli soldiers seized control on tens of houses and two High schools in the city and turned them into detention centers and military posts, witnesses said.

Israeli troops, for the second day running, launched a broad and ongoing offensive attack on Nablus city. Presidency spokesman, Nabil Abu Rdeina, said that the Israeli military aggression in Nablus is aimed at rising tension and hindering international efforts to revive the peace process.

Abu Rdeina today affirmed that the Israeli aggression is unacceptable and contradicts the essence of the trilateral meeting between President Mahmoud Abbas, Israeli Primer, Ehud Olmert, and the US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice.

He concluded by referring to the reasons behind the military campaign, saying that such an operation has negative results on peace, security and stability in the region.

Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) condemned Israeli military aggression against the West Bank (WB) city of Nablus which so far led to the arrest of 30 citizens.

President Mahmoud Abbas described the Israeli aggression against Nablus as barbaric. He told reporters before flying from Cairo to Abu Dhabi that this heinous ongoing aggression is unjustified.

He added that killing cannot be accepted by anyone, stressing that by doing this Israel is crossing all boundaries.
