seven Islamic countries to discuss Islamic world's disputes

Foreign ministers of seven Islamic countries will be meeting in Islamabad on February 25 to discuss ideas for resolving disputes in the Islamic world, including Palestine, and bring harmony in the Muslim world, Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri said Friday.
Talking to newsmen in Islamabad, Kasuri said the meeting of the foreign ministers will be a brainstorming session to prepare for the summit of a group of Islamic heads of state and government to be held in Mecca later.
Foreign ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia and Jordan as well as the secretary-general of the OIC will attend the meeting, he said.
Kasuri pointed out that the situation in the Middle East has been a source of concern to Pakistan and the Ummah.
He said President Pervez Musharraf had visited several Islamic countries to discuss the idea with them for a united voice of Muslim countries to resolve Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon and other issues.
He said that after the summit meeting the Islamic countries will interact with other world powers to try to resolve their problems.
Earlier, speaking at a joint press conference with his Sri Lankan counterpart Rohitha Bogollagama, the foreign minister said Pakistan and Sri Lanka expressed their resolve to combat extremism and terrorism in the interest of preserving shared values and principles as well as global peace and progress of humanity.
He said they also agreed to further strengthen their multifaceted cooperation in the field of commerce, trade, tourism and defense for the common benefit of their two countries.
