Palestine-Israel, Politics, 2/4/2007
The Chief Palestinian Islamic Justice, Sheikh Tayssir al-Tamimi called Sunday on Arab and Islamic world to immediately move and stop Israeli procedures to judaize and demolish part of al-Aqsa mosque.
He affirmed that Israeli government ordered Israeli bulldozers to start today destroying the bridge connects al-Haram al-Shareef with Bab al-Magharba in Jerusalem.
Al-Tamimi called on the United Nations and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to shoulder its responsibility and protect the holy shrines in Jerusalem, affirming that Jerusalem city is exposing to "kidnap" in light of judaization and ethnic cleansing at the hand of Israeli occupation authorities.
The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu warned today against Israel's demolishing the bridge connects al-Haram al-Shareef with Bab al-Magharba in Jerusalem.
In a statement, Ihsanoglu said this Israeli attack against Islamic shrines would lead to beyond the pale results and a flagrant violation to international law, adding that the occupying state is irreconcilable to alter the shape of religious and historical sites.
He called on international community to pressure Israel's government to stop its plans against Jerusalem and al-Aqsa mosque.
Meantime, the Israeli authorities decided today to ban Palestinian worshippers approaching the yard of al-Aqsa mosque to continue excavating beneath it, sources said. They added that the Israeli authorities allowed individuals above age of 45 to show up only today, on Sunday and banned those under this age.
