118 countries support Iran nuclear program, as 3000 centrifuges are to be installed
Regional-Iran, Politics, 2/4/2007

Ambassadors to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) from the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Troika as well as the Group of 77 visiting Iran and who inspected Isfahan UCF Complex Complex yesterday underlined again the stance of 118 member countries of Non-Aligned Movement concerning Iran's peaceful nuclear activities.

Cuban permanent representative to the IAEA and head of NAM's Troika visiting Isfahan UCF Complex said, " We believe all countries must have the right to use peaceful nuclear energy without any discrimination and no country has the right to stop them." She also insisted on countries' obligation to international laws and regulations and added, "We welcome Iran's voluntary steps for confidence building and we encourage Iran for cooperation to solve the remaining issues." The Cuban diplomat pointed out, "As it was stressed in the statement of last year summit of NAM countries, we want a Middle East region without atomic weapons and we ask Israel to join NPT."

She added, " We also consider any kind of attack against working nuclear facility or facilities under construction a measure opposed to international regulations which endanger world peace." Referring to another part of last year statement of NAM summit, the Cuban permanent representative to the IAEA said, the Non-Aligned Movement wants peaceful settlement for Iran's nuclear dossier and calls for negotiation without any precondition.

Iran's Ambassador to the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh said here Saturday that the two cameras installed at the UF6 production facilities at Isfahan UCF Complex is a sign of Iran's additional cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog.

Speaking to reporters during the inspection of UCF Complex along with the visiting ambassadors, he said that technically the cameras are not needed, but that Iran accepted it just for the sake of additional cooperation.

Iran's permanent representative to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEO) Ali Asghar Soltanieh said yesterday the Islamic Republic of Iran spares no efforts to remove ambiguities in its nuclear activities.

Soltanieh said Iran is determined to pursue its peaceful nuclear activities. "Suspension (of Uranium enrichment) is not rational and nobody has been able to give a logical justification for it," Soltanieh said.

He added, " We are in contact with IAEA. Mr. Elbaradei intends to resolve the problem peacefully and Iran welcomes any initiative in this regard." Responding to a question on reports that Iran has prevented installation of cameras in Natanz Facility, Soltanieh said,"We have informed Mr. Elbaradei that Iran wants to install 3,000 centrifuges by the end of 2007." He said the head of IAEA's Regional Inspection Department came to Iran last week and expressed his pleasure with Iran's cooperation with IAEA.

Asked if the installation of 3,000 centrifuges has already begun, Soltanieh said,"Technically, there are differences between installation and other stages of the work. We have informed Mr.

Elbaradei about the project and when we start gas injection, it will also be announced." A reporter asked Soltanieh how much UF 6 is produced annually and if it has been used in Natanz. He said,"We have produced 250 tons of the gas so far but the use of each gram of it should be done under the surveillance of IAEA." Asked if Iran's nuclear facilities are attacked, is there any concern about the danger of radio active substances?, Soltanieh said,"UF 6, itself is radio active and any attack on nuclear facilities which are either under construction or operational and even any threat of attack is against the rules of IAEA and international laws.
