King Abdullah: Iran indispensable partner for ME peace
Jordan-Iran, Politics, 1/27/2007

Jordan's King Abdullah yesterday night called for Iran's participation in efforts to find a solution to the crisis facing the Middle East.

Addressing the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, he said he does not believe a new crisis has emerged between Iran and the international community.

There is a real opportunity for a new dynamism and peace, he said, challenging old foes to talk and reach agreement on issues of vital importance to establishing peace in the Middle East.

King Abdullah said the time was ripe for a new, dynamic approach to issues and called for courage and willingness to take such approach to arrive at a durable solution to the crisis.

The international community, particularly the Middle East Quartet negotiating for peace in the Middle East -- the US, United Nations, European Union and Russia -- have responsibility now to take on this historical duty for a new peace process, he added.

He stressed that regional states will not trust the US if it failed to tackle the issue now.
