No problems in financing or getting Egypt nuclear fuel
Egypt, Economics, 10/23/2006

Egypt's Minister of Electricity and Energy Hassan Younis, said Egypt is prepared to launch an ambitious program for generating electricity from nuclear energy.

He said Egypt is in need of a big program including a bigger number than the eight stations the ancient program was including when it was suspended in the 1980s, of the past century.

In press statements, Younis said all files of the station project are available, adding that each file will be opened in time. He said Egypt's nuclear energy scientists abroad would assist the Egyptian program.

The minister said the needs of the succeeding generation from energy will be discussed by the Supreme Council of Energy in the upcoming stage in line with President Mubarak's vision.

The minister of electricity said no country has the right to object to Egypt's peaceful nuclear energy, adding that the rejection by any state is ruled out as our program is clear cut and transparent and it is certified by the international community and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

He said there are no problems in financing or in providing the necessary nuclear fuel.
