Abul Gheit: Egypt closely follows up Somali developments
Egypt-Somalia-UN, Politics, 10/23/2006

Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit yesterday received UN special envoy to Somalia Francois Val, currently visiting Egypt.

In statements to reporters following the meeting, Abul-Gheit said Egypt is closely following up the latest developments in Somalia through contacts with the Somali factions, neighboring states and international parties.

The Minister said Egypt pins high hopes on the resumption of Arab League-mediated dialogue between the Somali transitional government and the Islamic Courts. He urged the government and the Islamic Courts abide by the ceasefire reached by an agreement signed by both parties in Khartoum.
