Iraqis want US out: Poll
Iraq-USA, Politics, 9/27/2006
A poll on Iraqi attitudes towards US forces withdrawal from Iraq said most Iraqis want the US forces out of the country.
The International Policy Attitudes said "the Iraqi public finds that seven in ten Iraqis want US-led forces to commit to withdraw within a year. An overwhelming majority believes that the US military presence in Iraq is provoking more conflict than it is preventing and there is growing confidence in the Iraqi army. If the US made a commitment to withdraw, a majority believes that this would strengthen the Iraqi government."
The International Policy Attitudes who conducted the poll said "most iraqis want US troops out within a year" and "say US presence provoking more conflict than it is preventing" and
"approval of attacks on US-led forces rises to 6 in 10."
International Policy Attitudes studies public opinion on international issues and is a joint program of the Center on Policy Attitudes (COPA) and the Center for International and Security Studies at Maryland (CISSM), University of Maryland.
