Enemies intended to pass to Iran through Lebanon: Rafsanjani
Lebanon-Iran-USA, Politics, 8/18/2006
Iranian Substitute Friday Prayers Leader of Tehran Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said in his Second Sermon here that the enemies of Islam, the revolution, and Iran had imagined that Lebanon was a passage through which they could reach Iran.
Addressing thousands of worshipers at central campus of Tehran University, Rafsanjani added, "God brought them to their knees there so that they would not succeed in inflicting losses against the land that is the standard bearer of Islam and the Prophet's Holy Household (PBUT)." Considering the United States as the "main supporter of Israel" and the "biggest defamed party" in the war, he stressed, "The United States acted most arrogantly in this war and has to be accountable now, since it was at least an accomplice of Israel in its attack against Lebanon, and among the main planner of that inhumane massive military attack." Hashemi Rafsanjani reiterated, "The Americans had assumed that Hizbullah would be taken care of in the course of a couple of days and that was why they gave Tel Aviv a green light for launching its massive attack, and resisted many times against the issuance of a truce UN resolution, but when they noticed Israel's weakness in achieving its objectives, they passed a unilateral resolution." Referring to the high amount of losses that Israel has suffered in the war, he reiterated, "They had propagated that their Mercava tanks are invulnerable, but Hizbullah encountered the Israeli tanks from the very beginning of the war and managed to halt their process using the missiles they had." Arguing that Israeli land forces are not strong at all, he said, "The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) is mainly comprised of reserve personnel, that are summoned to service merely at times of war, and are made up of soldiers form different nationalities that war in Israel as mercenaries and are not pleased with the conduct of the Zionist regime at all." The Friday preacher of Tehran said, "Most of their military personnel are devoid of the strong belief and sense of selflessness, that are parts and parcel for any good military personnel at a warfront, relying merely on the airforce, and armed vehicles' power, but Hizbullah, resorting to its simple missiles, annulled the real penetration power of even their air force." He reiterated, "If Hizbullah was not fortified with combatants that are ready to sacrifice their lives and to act quite selflessly it could not have created such scenes of bravery on earth and this is a point worth deeper penetration." Considering Hizbullah's method as a way of life for world nations, he said, "This war was not a war between two armies, or two governments, but the model for a new way of life for those human beings that wish to resist and to defend their own rights, when they have no other option." Hashemi Rafsanjani said that one of the results of Hizbullah's resistance was highlighting Israel's weak points, adding, "The international circles kept on assuming that Israel was quite invulnerable till the beginning of this war, due to the experience of Israel's war with a combination of Arab countries, but the combatants of Islam entered the war scene quite alertly and highlighted the enemy's strong weak points." The substitute Friday prayer leader added that Israel is engaged with internal problems, as well, such as the difference of opinion between Israel's prime minister and that fake regime's defense minister in military tactics.
He added, "Furthermore, many Israeli soldiers did not yield to being dispatched to the war front, and were therefore imprisoned, which led to lowering the spirit of the entire Israeli armed forces." Rafsanjani said, "At Israeli parliament, too, there was a harsh ward fight over the methods of pursuing the war, which in some cased led to ordering some MPs to leave the parliament hall." He said that Israel's other defeat was at the ethical front in this war, since that country ruthlessly attacked a defenseless country most severely for thirty-three days, while the Lebanese had no means of defending themselves, save for Hizbullah's counter- attacks." The substitute Friday prayer leader of Tehran referred to the US truce resolution on Lebanon, saying, "If you analyze the contents of this resolution from a neutral point of the view you would notice that it is anti-Lebanon and pro-Israeli, but the Lebanese, wisely, accepted it, since they wished to let it know they were not warmongers." Hashemi Rafsanjani considered Hizbullah's victory "The victory of 1.5 billion Muslims, reiterating, "Even those that assumed it is impossible to gain the Palestinians' rights are not doubting about the authenticity of their former resolute assumption." The temporary Friday preacher of Tehran said that the Israelis are today after sowing the seeds of discord among the Lebanese, stressing, "Of course, such disputes do exist inside Israel, as well." He said, "The Islamic World, that resorting to its capabilities, could have assisted them, but it did not, can at least do its best in the course of reconstruction." Rafsanjani said, "If each Muslim would contribute two dollars to the Lebanese people, that is an easy thing to do, Lebanon would be reconstructed better than before, but of course, even if they wont, the Lebanese nation would reconstruct their own country very well." The substitute Friday prayer leader referred to the Israeli atrocities against the Palestinian nation towards the last days of war in Lebanon, adding, "Gaza was bombed regularly and cruelly, the Palestinian parliament speaker was arrested illegally by Israeli forces and later on taken to court, but the news on those events were rarely, if ever, reflected in world mass media." On Iraq, Hashemi Rafsanjani reiterated, "In Iraq, both the insurgents and the occupiers took full advantage of the situation and aggravated the extent of their violence so that 3,500 people got killed in Iraq in the course of the past month, that is unprecedented ever since that country's occupation." He said, "The situation is so tense in Iraq today that some commentators take about a civil war and the Muslims should take intensive care not to let that happen." On Iran's nuclear dossier, referring to the latest status of our country's nuclear dossier, Rafsanjani said, "As the roaring of cannons are silenced in Lebanon, the roaring of politicians on Iran's nuclear program is now heard louder." The interim Friday prayer leader emphasized, "We expect that the Americans have learned enough lessons form Lebanon war not to get engaged in another conflict aimed at destabilizing our region and not to resort to the toughest way for untying the Gordian Knot, since this problem can easily be tackled through regional and international negotiations.
