Israel's aggression pollutes Lebanon's beaches
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 8/14/2006

Iran's Head of the Department of the Environment Fatemeh Vaez-Javadi has expressed concerned over the environmental pollution in Lebanon caused by massive Israeli bombardments.

In a letter to Lebanese Minister of the Environment Yacoub al-Sarraf, Vaez-Javadi pointed out that the Israeli army had not spared the environmentally crucial areas of southern Lebanon from its bombardments.

Referring to the 80-kilometer oil slick that has been found in Lebanon's seashore, she said she feared the marine environment of Lebanon has been severely damaged.

"On the other hand, the microscopic pollution caused by Israeli bombs has jeopardized the environment," she said.

Vaez-Javadi moreover said that her department was ready to cooperate with Lebanon in restoring its sound environment.

Pointing to the brutality of the Israeli regime, she blamed Israel for waging a war which not only claimed over a thousand Lebanese lives but also brought numerous health hazards for the living.
