Qana massacre, another example of United Nations insufficiency
Lebanon-Iran-UN, Politics, 8/3/2006
Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Wednesday that the war crimes in Qana committed by Israel is another example for UN insufficiency.
Talking in Tehran from Beirut, Damascus and a stopover in Doha, Mottaki said: UN and Security Council which should uphold the will of the international community have done poorly in response to Qana massacre.
He said that if UNSC had shown a suitable reaction to Israeli massacre of innocent civilians of Qana and UN missions 10 years ago (1996), the same war crimes would not have happened in Qana once again.
Mottaki noted that Qana crime was a very sorrowful scene for the humanity and Lebanese people are demanding the United Nations to bring to justice those responsible for the war crimes.
He added the Lebanese government also demand the Hague-based International Court of Justice (ICJ) to punish officials of the occupying regime of Israel and oblige them to pay reparations for the human losses and the material losses on civilian infrastructure of Lebanon.
Mottaki said Iran considers certain countries that have abetted Israel to take such an extensive toll on Lebanese civilians accountable from the Qana war crime.
Mottaki said that the Lebanese officials are worried about the armament, bombs and arms that the Zionist regime uses against people of Lebanon.
