Abbas to heads of Jerusalem churches in Gaza: great challenges require unity

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that the great challenges faced by the Palestinian people require national unity to protect our national achievements.

In an address delivered on behalf of President Abbas by Mohammed al-Kidwa, Gaza Governor, during a popular meeting that gathered heads of Jerusalem Churches who came to show solidarity in Gaza, he stressed the importance of a national unity to face the Israeli challenges.

He welcomed the heads of Churches, appreciating their visit which mirrors the unity of Palestinian people.

He called on the visiting delegation to visit the areas destroyed by the Israeli war machines.

For his part, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Michel Sabbah, expressed his pleasure to be in Gaza, pointing out that the visit aims at showing the Churches solidarity with the Palestinian people.

He stressed the importance of the national unity to reach our goals, affirming that the Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people must stop.

Bishop of Anglican Church, Riah H. Abu El-Assal, said the delegation carries greeting of Jerusalem to the Gaza People despite the attempts to steal our freedom.

For his part, Bishop of the Lutheran Church in Jerusalem, Mounib Younan, stressed that justice must prevail and make peace, not walls, pointing out that the occupation produces hatred not peace and love.

The heads of churches visited devastated areas due to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip like El-Magahzi Refugee Camp. They also visited wounded people in Hospitals.
