Linking Egyptian national grid to Gaza's to alleviate Palestinians woes
Egypt-Palestine, Politics, 7/29/2006

An Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Energy source said yesterday that the implementation of an urgent program to link Egypt's national grid to that of the Gaza Strip aims at assuaging sufferings of our brothers in Palestine especially areas that have been denied electricity due to Israeli attacks.

In statements, the source dismissed as untrue claims that the Egyptian national electricity network will be linked to that of Israel via Gaza's grid. A possibility to this effect has never been discussed, he said.

The source pointed out that Egypt's electricity grid is linked to the Arab one and Egypt can not extend any linkage except after the seven Arab states contributing to the unified Arab grid approve it and this issue of linking Egypt's national grid to Israel's was never taken up at any meeting,
