Iraqi president calls for cooperation with neighbors on border security

Iraq's President Jalal Talabani said yesterday that Iraq is keen on cooperation on border security with neighboring countries on the basis of respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq, presidential office said.
Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Baghdad Hassan Kazemi Qomi, said that Iraq expects its neighbors to cooperate with Baghdad government on border security in order to guarantee national sovereignty and independence of Iraq.
He called for settlement of security problems between the two countries through diplomatic channels and based on international regulations.
Talabani and Kazemi Qomi also exchanged views on promotion of Tehran-Baghdad relations.
