European Parliament calls for immediate ceasefire in Lebanon

The European Parliament voiced today 'extreme alarm' at the military escalation and the resulting humanitarian crisis in Lebanon and called for an immediate ceasefire. The leaders of the Political Groups of the European Parliament and EP President Josep Borrell issued a statement after a meeting in Brussels calling for an immediate cease-fire.

They called on the European Commission to release the maximum amount of funds for humanitarian aid for the victims of the conflict in the whole region as well as the refugees in Cyprus.
