Palestine envoy: Israel tastes bitter failure
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 7/17/2006
Palestinian ambassador to Iran Salah al-Zawawi today said Hizbullah counter-attack against Israel made the Israel try bitter taste the failure.
Zawawi said that Hizbullah has the right to take captives from Israeli soldiers to secure release of its members. Zawawi said that 425 Palestinian children are being held in Israeli jails in addition to several hundred other Palestinians and the proposal for exchange of captives is logical.
He added that what is happening in Lebanon injures the heart of every human being and the world should not keep silent and indifference toward it. In his opinion the problem of Prisoners of War (POWs) can be solved easily by international arbitration.
Zawawi described US support for Israel as a cruel position, and asked human rights bodies to react on these crimes. Praising Hizbullah movement actions in Lebanon, he added resistance is not confined to Lebanon and Palestine because the Israel has incited the sentiments of the Muslim world.
Representative of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance (Hamas) to Iran Abou Asamah today said that collapse of the Israeli regime would be possible through efforts of Lebanon's Hizbullah and Hamas.
Asamah made the remark while addressing a conference on latest developments in Palestine, held at the Foreign Ministry.
He pointed to two successful operations conducted by Hizbullah and Hamas which resulted in the killing of a number of Zionist forces and capture of three Israeli soldiers, saying both operations angered the Zionist regime to an extent that it attacked Lebanon with no logic.
Lebanon's Hizbullah rushed to the help the Palestinians, he said, adding despite silence of official institutions of Arab states towards aggressions of Israel on Palestine, Hizbollah showed reaction to such crimes.
Asamah added operations conducted by Hamas and Hizbollah are based on a scheduled plan and not on adventurism.
He said the process of reconciliation with Israel was doomed to failure. He said efforts made by the United States and Israel to sow discord among Palestinians would fail, adding that such efforts were neutralized through signing of a unity charter by the Palestinian groups. He stressed the importance of continuing resistance against Israel.
