Iranian official: those quite help Israel's aggression
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 7/15/2006
Iran's Ambassador to Beirut Mohammad Sheibani in a meeting with the speaker of Lebanon's National Assembly and Leader of Shiite Amal Movement Nabih Berri today condemned attacks of Israel on residential areas and infrastructures of South Lebanon resulting in the loss of civilian lives.
At the meeting, the two officials reviewed the latest political and military developments in Lebanon.
The Iranian diplomat underlined Iran's support for the Lebanese government, nation and Hezbollah.
Irans Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Chairman Alaeddin Boroujerdi today said that the US support for Israel shows its double-standard policy not even allowing a resolution to be issued against the Israeli regime on its attacks on residential areas in defiance of international laws.
He said about detention of more than 10,000 Palestinians in Israeli prisons as well as the civilian victims of the recent attacks, adding that the Israelis even resort to any type of brutal means of torture, including those of the medieval period as well as beating up the prisoners.
Regretting the silence of the international community and the majority of world countries on such a severe tyranny and violation of human rights, he said that such moves are even supported by some countries, such as the US, Britain and Canada.
"In defense of the Palestinians rights, the Lebanese Hizbullah declared two months ago that to release the Palestinians and Lebanese individuals, who have been arrested by the Zionist regime, they will detain Zionist forces."
Turning to Hizbullah's ability to defend the occupied lands of southern Lebanon and its military potential, he said, "A number of Zionist soldiers have been wounded and two more have been so far arrested by Hizbullah.
"Given that the Zionist regime recognizes no other language, except that of force, and that military operations are the only policy working against it, Hizbullah had no option but to resort to force to release thousands of innocent people detained by Zionists."
"The attacks launched by the Zionist regime against residential areas, victimizing innocent people, destroying bridges and civilian centers as a reaction are not sign of power, but on the contrary an indication of weakness," said the MP.
He said that instead of confronting Hizbullah directly, they exerted pressure on civilians and residential areas, which similar to the past occasions resulted in more unity among the people of occupied lands and turned out to be against the interests of the "Zionist regime".
He urged the Islamic countries to react in this respect and said that they should use the potentials of the Organization of Islamic Conference to reduce the current pressures and stop the "Zionists attacks on the countries of the region."
"The US multifaceted support for Israel makes it an accomplice in the crimes committed by the Zionists and the American officials should be accountable to the international community for it," he added.
Boroujerdi said that the "Zionist regime should accept the reality that the Palestinian and Lebanese nations are firmly willing to safeguard their power."
He added, "Neither advanced weapons, nor bombardment can leave the slightest impact on the Palestinian and Lebanese people, but the Zionist regime will face real dangers." The MP pointed to Lebanese Hizbullah as people's official and favorite political body represented in the country's government and parliament, adding that its power and popularity keeps growing daily both on the domestic scene as well as the Islamic and Arab worlds.
