Moussa: Peace is dead due to Israel's aggression

"The Middle East peace process has failed. The whole process should now be sent back to the Security Council for a complete overhaul," said Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa.

Moussa's statement came in a press conference in Cairo following an urgent meeting of Arab states foreign ministers following Israel's aggression on Lebanon.

The ministers, who met over Israel's expanding assault on Lebanon, passed a unanimous resolution Saturday calling on the UN Security Council to intervene to stop escalating Mideast fighting.

"We are going to the Security Council - this is a unanimous position - to discuss the whole situation from scratch," Moussa said. "If the Security Council fails, nobody knows what might happen next."

CNN meantime reported him saying "Certain powers have given Israel every capacity to do whatever it wishes."

Meantime. SANA reported that the Arab States meeting "condemned the Israeli aggression on Lebanon and the Palestinian territories which target innocent civilians and infrastructure, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian and Lebanese people and support their struggle against this flagrant aggression," and "On Lebanon, the Arab Foreign Ministers stressed the right of people to resist the occupation and aggression, and hailed the Lebanese people's solidarity and national unity which constitutes the main factor in facing the aggression."
