Indian Left strongly condemns Israel's aggression on Lebanon

Communist Party of India today strongly condemned the Israel's aggression against Lebanon.

The retaliation in wake of two Israeli soldiers were abducted by the Hizbullah in Lebanon, has been totally disproportionate and reveals Israel's well known penchant for aggression on its neighboring countries, said a press statement issued by the Politi Bureau of CPI(M) yesterday.

Coming in the wake of the sustained attacks on the Gaza strip, Israel poses a serious threat to peace and stability in the region, the statement said.

While strongly condemning the full-scale attack by air, sea and land on Lebanon, by Israel, CPI (M) asked the Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, not only deplore the attack on Lebanon but immediately suspend buying arms from Israel.

"International sanctions should be applied on Israel for its brazen violation of international law," CPI(M) demands.

Israel has launched a full-scale attack by air, sea and land on Lebanon. Beirut airport has been bombed, ports have been subjected to naval bombardment and residential areas attacked in which more than 55 civilians have been killed.
