Iran condemns Israeli attack on Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 7/13/2006
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi today strongly condemned Israel's attacks on Lebanese territory and and infrastructure installations.
"The Zionist regime is bitterly repeating the mistakes it made in Lebanon in the past decades and is recreating a scenario that is doomed to fail," Asefi added.
"The Zionist regime is desperate because of the resistance put up by regional Muslim nations and is now resorting to blind tactics against the innocent people of Lebanon with full US backing," he noted.
The Zionist regime suffered humiliating defeat in the region in recent years when they were forced to withdraw by the resistance movement and has no alternative except to accept defeat, Asefi said.
Calling the international community's deliberate silence vis-a-vis the events now taking place in the region as "questionable," Asefi warned that failure to take serious and urgent measures to end the Zionist regime's crimes will lead to more tensions in the region and possibly a human catastrophe.
He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran viewed with grave concern the crimes that are being committed by the Israel in the Occupied Territories and will take up the crisis with regional states.
