Iran's president blames US for chaotic Iraq

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad today said that the current chaotic situation in Iraq emanated from presence of foreign troops in the country.
In a meeting with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari who is in Tehran to take part in conference of foreign ministers of Iraq's neighbors, President Ahmadi-Nejad said that the occupying powers are creating the current state of chaos in Iraq to serve as a pretext for continued occupation.
Ahmadi-Nejad said that Iraqi nation would have a bright prospect and honorable future by developing national solidarity.
He said that an independent, strong and prosperous Iraq would be in the interest of Iraq's neighbors so they support democratic government and favor security and progress in Iraq.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran supports a democratic government in Iraq and believes that Iraqi people are capable enough of administering the affairs of their own country preparing the ground for reconstruction."
For his part, Zebari said Iraqi national resolve focused on reconstruction of Iraq and Iraqi government is keen on developing the strongest possible relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
"We regard Iran as our second country and we will never forget Iranian goodness for Iraqi people," the foreign minister said.
Meantime, Iraq Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashadani today said his five-day visit to Iran has been successful in all areas of bilateral relations with Iran.
In an interview with Iraq's Al-Sabah daily, he said his trip drew a transparent structure for mutual cooperation.
Al-Mashadani added a joint committee has been established for following up the issues of the eight-year Iraq-Iran war and the hand-over of Iraqi airplanes.
"We gave assurance to the Iranians that today's Iraq is unified and rejects violence. We also urged Iranian officials to support us in providing peace and security for the Iraqi nation," he said.
The speaker further noted that the establishment of security in Iraq helps expedite the pull-out of foreign forces.
He said the new policy of Iraq is to respect the common nterests of its neighbors and not to interfere in their internal affairs.
