Iran says no spoiled chicken, food exported to Iraq
Iraq-Iran, Local, 7/6/2006
Iran yesterday refuted Iraqi press claims that it had exported spoiled chicken and food to Iraq.
Iran's commercial attache to Iraq Janali Halvaie yesterday ruled out as "sheer lie" recent claims of an Iraqi daily that three lorries laden with spoiled protein products such as chicken, had been transported to different parts of Iraq.
Halvaie said necessary licenses had been issued for the exported commodities which were carried to the zero point border point by special trucks with cold storage facilities.
The daily claimed the goods had been transferred to Iraq by ordinary trucks under a temperature of 45 degrees Celsius.
The Iranian official said Iran earned $300 million last year from food exports to Iraq and no cases of substandard cargo delivery to Iraq was reported.
The Iraqi officials too have rejected the claim raised by the Iraqi daily.
