Iran's president to visit Iraq
Iraq-Iran, Politics, 7/3/2006
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi said yesterday that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would pay a visit to Iraq to discuss bilateral ties as well as major regional and international developments.
Speaking to domestic and foreign reporters at his weekly press conference, Asefi rejected remarks by former Iraqi prime minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari on possible nuclear talks in presence of Ahmadinejad and leaders of certain other countries in the near future.
"The Iranian president has been invited to pay a visit to Iraq. It is the first time I am hearing news about presence of other countries leaders and raising of Iran's nuclear case," he said.
