Abbas reiterates desire for referendum

President Mahmoud Abbas asserted the need to support conducting referendum that was labled as "Document of National Reconciliation" launched by some Palestinian prisoners in Israeli Jails, as needed for ending the international siege on the Palestinians, if the national dialogue did not reach consensus.

The Hamas party that won the government elections is opposed to the document.

Menatime, President Mahmoud Abbas has totally denied Thursday Israeli claims on providing light weapons to the Presidential Guard.

During his visit to Nablus, north of the West Bank, President told journalists that all such Israeli claims are completely "lies."

He added that the Israelis talk about weapons to the Palestinian President meanwhile I have no idea about it.

Abbas added that it is not the first time the Israeli launch such false news, affirming that such Israeli reports aims at flaming sedition.

This comes as the Israeli occupation forces arrested today eight citizens, including three policemen in the West Bank cities of Nablus and Tulkarem, security sources said.

They said that massive Israeli troops sneaked into Askar Refugee Camp, eastern Nablus city, besieged several houses shortly before arresting two brothers policemen, Eyad 30, and Ashraf Sodani 28. While the third policeman of Yassin family was arrested at an Israeli checkpoint and led into an unknown spot.
