Khaddam says al-Assad must have ordered Hariri murder
Syria-Lebanon-UN, Politics, 6/13/2006

The Lebanese Daily Star today reported that Former Syrian Vice President Abdel-Halim Khaddam said that Syria's president Bashar al-assad must have order the killing of Lebanon's prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri because "The Syrian security apparatus doesn't flinch without a direct order from President Bashar Assad."

The reported quoted him saying "I am next on the assassination list. I was informed that Syria sent some people all the way to Paris to deal with me."

This coincides with the UN secretary general submiting an update report to the UN Security Council on the investigation into the Hariri assassination.
