Egyptian Minister of Information Anas el-Fiqqi asserted yesterday that the Arab Information Ministers' Council approved, during recent meetings at the Arab League, a report by a permanent Arab information committee on laying down criteria governing the content of broadcasts by Satellite Channels in the Arab states.
Fiqqi said in statements Monday that legislations should be issued in this regard so that the Satellite Channels would be governed by the ethics and values of the Arab society.
The permanent committees was tasked with working out draft laws for the purpose and then refer them to the Arab Information Ministers Council for ratification, he added, considering the action as a great achievement.
Egyptian media passes through radical transformation phase Egyptian Minister of Information Anas el-Fiqi said, in his speech at a meeting of the National Specialised Institutions.
The first priority of this phase is restructuring media institutions in a way that allows more freedom of expression and minimizes the role of the state in press institutions.
He added that the restructuring of media institutions required thorough studies that were referred to legislative bodies.
