Iranian embassy denies export of rotten eggs to Iraq
Iraq-Iran, Politics, 6/13/2006
The Iranian embassy in Baghdad yesterday rejected news by certain Arab media that Iran exported rotten eggs to Iraq via its Mehran border.
The Iranian embassy refuted the allegations, saying information released by the Ilam Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines said foodstuff exported from Iran to Iraq via its Mehran border were certified to be in good condition.
The statement however acknowledged that poor transportation and lack of refrigeration facilities may have caused the eggs to rot along the way.
Certain media groups are against consolidation of relations between the Iranian and Iraqi nations and try to create problems for the two sides through their media.
The Mehran border market has become a major source of basic goods for the Iraqi people in recent years.
