Abul-Gheit: Egypt follows developments in Somalia
Egypt-Somalia, Politics, 6/12/2006

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit said on Sunday that Egypt was keenly following up events in Somalia over the past few days on the basis of the historical ties binding the Egyptian and Somali peoples.

In statements to the press, he affirmed that all Somali sides should stick to peace agreements signed in Nairobi, Kenya, being the only way to achieve peace and security in the country.

Egypt will continue to support all efforts exercised by the interim Somali government at all levels to find a way out of the dilemma its people are now facing, he said.

He stressed Egypt's full support of efforts to restore confidence among the various parties and reconstruct and develop Somalia.
