Abbas receives pm Haniyya in Gaza
Palestine, Politics, 6/10/2006

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas received Saturday at the Presidential headquarters in Gaza Prime Minister Ismael Haniyya.

The meeting focused on the issues of the latest Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, the issue of holding a referendum as well as continuing the national dialogue.

Following the meeting, Presidency Spokesperson, Nabil Abu Rdaina said the President emphasized that the general referendum will take place on July 26, if the National Dialogue did not reach an agreement on the prisoners' Document for Reconciliation until that date.

Abu Rdaina said the President thoroughly discussed the importance of the referendum and the prisoners document as a way out of the current crisis due to the Israeli military escalation and the international economic siege.

Earlier, PM told reporters that he will resume tomorrow evening discussions with the President, saying that the government is not with the idea of the referendum. He added that the alternative is the serious dialogue, on the basis of the prisoners document.
