Syrian, Iran cooperation in educational field, urge Muslim unity

Iran's Majlis Speaker Gholamali Haddad Adel said on Saturday that reinforcement of solidarity among the Islamic states is a historical necessity.
In a meeting with member of central council of Syrian Baath party and head of Office of Syrian higher education, Yasser Houriya, Haddad Adel said that in the current world, Islamic states need solidarity to resist the greed of the big powers citing Iran-Syria solidarity as an exemplary for cooperation between the Muslim states.
"Iran supports steadfast position of Syrian government and nation against pressure being exerted by US and Israel," the Majlis speaker said.
Haddad Adel, who is a senior pedagogue, called for teaching Persian language in Syria and Arabic in Iran and described it as a good means of developing educational cooperation.
He expressed pleasure with the high level economic and industrial cooperation and said that there is still extensive capacity for economic cooperation between Tehran and Damascus.
Houriya said that Iran has made great achievements in the field of science and technology and has been successful in industrial development.
He renewed Syrian support for Iranian national program to produce nuclear energy.
Houriya said that Syria is keen on academic cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of teaching Persian Language and Literature in Syria and Arabic in Iran.
