Egyptian cotton exported to 25 countries

Egypt has signed contracts to export its renowned cotton of various staples to 25 countries till the end of the first week of June.
The deals account for some 214 million dollars in return for 1,748,266 metric quintals of yarn.
Average selling prices agreed upon during the 33rd week of the export season 2005-2006 have reached 135 cents per "Giza 88" pound and 140 cents for "Giza 86." "Giza 84" and "Giza 80" were sold for 102 and 83 cents per pound respectively.
Chairman of the General Authority for Arbitration and Cotton Testing Salah el-Attar said local mills had received some 1,748,294 metric Quintals of yarn since the beginning of the season 2005-2006 and till the first week of this month.
He added that 79,501 of the received quintals were of previous seasons, noting that 53.63% of this quantity would be allocated to public business Sector mills and 46.37% would go to the private and investment sectors.
