Israeli soldiers kill two Egyptian policemen
Egypt-Israel, Politics, 6/3/2006

The bodies of two policemen were found Friday morning near the international borders in Sinai, a security source said.

The source stated that the two bodies have been shot dead and were in uniform with their weapons as they were on duty guarding the eastern borders.

The two policemen belonged to a special security unit guarding the international borders in Sinai, the source added.

He said initial investigations suggested that they were chasing a drugs trafficker and crossed the international borders mistakenly by 100 meters to be shot dead by an Israeli patrol.

According to the source, Egyptian officials have contacted Israeli authorities to release the two bodies to be buried in Egypt.

A spokeswoman for the Israeli Army, however, said that Israeli soldiers shot dead two men in Egyptian army uniform after being attacked from the Egyptian borders.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz ordered a prompt investigations into the incident.
