Haditha Iraqi civilian shooting report will be public
Iraq-USA, Military, 6/1/2006

The US military said the Haditha incident, in which Iraqi unarmed civilians are alledged to have been shot by US military forces on Nov 18th of last year as an act of revenge, was being investigated.

The military said there are two investigations taking place, one of them is criminal.

The US military today spoke of "heart felt condolences to the families in this accident" and the military will not tolerate unethical and criminal behavior. The military said an investigation was started on Feb 14th, and later, on March 9th, a further review of the incident investigation took place, which is still ongoing.

The US military added that they would start providing the soldiers on "values" training, saying 99% of the soldiers have the highest moral standards.

At the White House yesterday, Spokesman Tony Snow said "I've been assured by the Department of Defense and what I fully expect to see and you expect to see, as well, is when the report is released, we're going to see it. We're going to see everything. And we'll have an opportunity not merely to gauge the conclusions in the investigation by the Marines into all areas of conduct, on the ground and afterward, but also the subsequent measures that may or may not be taken in response."
