Hariri, Fatah delegation discuss Palestinian weapons
Palestine-Lebanon, Politics, 6/1/2006

Lebanon's Head of the Future Parliamentary Bloc MP Saad Hariri received yesterday in Germany a delegation from Fatah Movement.

Hariri is in an official visit to Germany met with the Fatah Central Committee Member and General Delegate for Foreign Relations head, Abbas Zaki, who said after the meeting "The brothers, Members of the Legislative Council, who are coming from Palestine carry the Palestinian worries. They explained to MP Hariri the sufferings of our people, and updated him on our official talks with the German Socialist Democratic Party, the Palestinian- Palestinian dialogue, and what President Abu Mazen raised lately about the necessity of reaching results that would protect our people from the situation of stagnation and civil war."

Zaki added "As usual MP Hariri understood our situation, and promised to exert great efforts to support the Palestinian people. The delegation also thanked MP Hariri for his continuous caring to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and resuming Palestinian representation which will witness during the next few days the signing of the headquarters contract so that matters will be as they were before the closing of the office in 1982."

Asked about the decision taken at the Lebanese national dialogue to remove the Palestinian arms outside the camps during a six months period, Zaki said "Our position is known in this regard. We are guests in Lebanon and under the sovereignty of the Lebanese law. The dialogue includes all parties, and we respect the Lebanese consensus which we consider is applied on us because we don't interfere in the Lebanese internal affairs. We requested to include the issue of weapons outside the camps in the dialogue and we appreciate and respect the consensus of the Lebanese. "

About the date of a Lebanese- Palestinian dialogue on the removal of these weapons starts, Zaki said "This is a Lebanese sovereign issue, and the dialogue was an introduction before the brothers in Lebanon reach an agreement. But there are armed people at the dialogue table and there are friends of those who have weapons outside the camps. Thus, this issue will not be a problem. "
