Mubarak in Libya on desert summit
Egypt-Libya, Politics, 6/1/2006

Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak arrived in Libya last night to preside over the Egyptian delegation to the Sahel and Sahara summit which will open today in the city of Sirte.

Libya's leader Muamar al-Qathafi said that "we are in favor of Egypt to remain always in the lead for Arabs and that its land belongs to all Arabs and we are in favor of Egypt's security, stability and progress."

Al-Qathafi stressed during his reception Wednesday night of the delegation of Arab Tribes of Sinai, Egypt , the need to preserve the tribe as a natural and social structure , and not to allow any one to threaten or disintegrate it.

He renewed the importance of Tomboctou Charter for Social League of Grand Sahara Tribes in bringing about peace and stability in this desert and to be a safe place for investment, tourism and development without violation of neither the borders made by colonialism between these countries nor the rulers of these countries.
