Israeli practices against Palestinians considered collective punishment

Israeli occupation forces swept today into Jericho city and arrested three citizens, sources said.

Local sources said that Israeli soldiers backed by tanks and armoured vehicles thrust into the city, amid intense fire shooting, and launched a door-to-door search campaign, causing a state of terror among residents, mostly among children and women.

They added that three citizens were arrested and led into an unknown place. Worth mentioning that Israel has amounted its military aggression against the Palestinian people represented by daily attacks against different cities and towns in West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Yesterday, Israeli soldiers brutally killed seven citizens and injured medical teams and two journalists.

Palestinian Red Cross Society said that Israeli daily practices against the Palestinian people considered as collective punishment.

In a press release issued Wednesday, the Red Cross revealed that four emergency medical technicians and two journalists were injured, in addition two ambulances were damaged, when Israeli artillery fired a tank round at a crowd of ambulances while en route to transport injuries and fatalities during the clashes that erupted in the north part of the Gaza.

The Red Cross added that Israeli practices constitute a breach of the Fourth Geneva Convention and the First Additional Protocol of the Geneva Conventions, which are legally applied to the occupied Palestinian territories.

It appealed to the international community to call upon Israel to respect International Humanitarian Law, to immediately stop its unjustified use of power and to respect and protect the humanitarian mission of the emergency medical services teams.
