National Democratic Party secretaries reshuffle
Egypt, Politics, 5/30/2006
Egypt's Secretariat of the National Democratic Party (NDP) will raise before President Hosni Mubarak tomorrow the large scale reshuffle movement of the NDP secretaries in the governorates following its approval by the NDP Secretariat Bureau.
Safwat Al Sherif, Secretary-General of the National Democratic Party said that delay in the reshuffle movement came as a result of sincerity in selection, adding that the movement would include 15 secretaries of governorates.
He said that he met nearly 80 candidates from differ governorates, adding that the main criterion in selection was efficiency and loyalty to the NDP message.
Sherif said that the NDP does not admit domination of capital, adding that the NDP is not for sale to the rich nor is it for trade.
He said that President Mubarak would give the green light launching the NDP Radio station during the inaugural session of the congress in September.
However, he denied reports that a satellite station will be launched for the party as this is not allowed by the party laws.
Sherif said that there is no tendency to amend the second article of the constitution which provides that Islamic Shariaa (law) is the main source of legislation.
He said that the NDP Secretariat would form a working group for developing the NDP structure, indicating that the main aspect of development is the establishment of new secretariats for expatriate affairs.
He said that these amendments would be raised at the NDP annual congress. Sherif said that it was the Secretariat Bureau which assigned Gamal Mubarak, the Assistant NDP Secretary-General and Policies Secretary to visit the United States for discussing reform plans in Egypt in line with the plan for illustrating the party policies and visions.
On the delay of the government in carrying out policies approved by the party, he said that the government can not be disassociated from the party, adding that it is assigned to carry out the President's electoral platform.
He said that the government has its excuses as the platform would need much time to implement, especially in the field of housing, land reclamation and identifying cities cordons.
