Mosque preachers being trained in Libya

The first specialized training course for imams, orators and preachers concluded Monday afternoon in Tripoli. The course organized by the General Endowment and Alms Department for imams, orators and preachers from across Libya and supervised by the General Department of Mosques, Preachers and Guidance.

The closing ceremony of the course which kicked off March 18, was attended by the Secretary of the People's Committee for Endowment and Alms Affairs, Director of Oil Affairs Institute which hosted the event, and the directors of the department and offices of endowment as well as a throng of those interested in this affair.

The Secretary of the People's Committee for General Endowment and Alms Affairs, in his speech in the occasion explained that the course is in line with the activation of the educational role of the Endowment and relevant institutions in confronting destructive ideas that affront values and faith, and building a strong cultural and religious base established on the correct identity of Islam and dissemination of its genuine concept and work for the immunization of youth from extremism, fanaticism and bad habits. He underlined that the significance of this course is to enhance the scientific level of the imams and orators to enable them carry out their duties as best as possible.

Over 200 Imams and orators took part in the course from across Libya, and the lectures included various disciplines by specialized scholars in the Sharia, Arabic language, the Holy Quran, its memorization and study, tafsir and the sunnah and its source, Islamic fiqah, Islamic culture, challenges of the era.

At the end of the course certificates and gifts were distributed to the participants.
