Egypt-France, Economics, 5/23/2006
France's Minister of Industry Francois Loos said yesterday that his country is keen to diversify sources of natural gas supplies, within the context of the European Union's policy on providing stable sources.
The Minister made these remarks during his visit to Idko Natural Gas Compound where he and Minister of Petroleum Sameh Fahmi and Governor of Behira Adel Labib toured the huge compound's facilities.
Fahmi said that Gas De France contributes to the liquefaction plant by 5% and contracted to buy 3.6 million tons for 20 years making up about 10% of France's total gas needs.
The minister lauded the compound's economic strategic importance which proves that Egypt is capable of attracting foreign investments, and international companies and finance institutions' trust in the Egyptian oil sector.
Idko Natural Gas Liquefaction Compound contains two plants with a capacity of 7.2 million tons a year to export its product to France, other European countries and US
