Palestinian director of general intelligence escapes death

The Palestinian Director of General Intelligence, General Tareq Abu Rajab escaped death Saturday morning of an assassination blast.

The blast Saturday morning was at his headquarter in the north west of Gaza City.

Abu Rajab was among 12 who were wounded in the explosion, as he took an elevator to his office, while one of his bodyguards was killed.

Medics said Abu Rajab's health condition is stable, while four of the victims sustained serious wound.

This act comes amid tension between Fatah and Hamas which included infighting, and it is not clear if Israel or a Palestinian faction is behind the act.

President Mahmoud Abbas has ordered Saturday the formation of an investigation committee, following the assassination attempt.
