Mubarak: emergency law cancelation being researched

Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak said the presence of the party affairs committee is essential as it sets the solid grounds for the establishment of new parties adding it observes the national interest and helps enrich party and political life.
On the emergency law, the President said it has been used only to protect Egypt against the risks of terrorism and to maintain its security and stability.
The President said studies are currently underway on drafting an anti-terror law which will replace the emergency law immediately upon its endorsement by the People's Assembly and the Shura Council.
The President said all countries take stringent measures for confronting terrorism in order to maintain the security of peoples and individuals.
He referred to measures taken by the United States and Britain for staving off the risk of terrorism, adding that all trials held in Egypt are made in the light of criminal procedures law and not emergency law.
He said any infringement upon the rights of the people will never be tolerated.
On attempts to foment sedition in Egypt, the President, said the Egyptian people are one fabric adding that any attempt by some elements to affect national unity, security and independence of the homeland will never be tolerated.
