German discrimination against Muslims
Regional-Germany, Politics, 5/6/2006

German Justice Minister Brigitte Zypries warned of growing religious discrimination against Muslims, DPA cited a report in the daily Welt am Sonntag for Sunday.

Not only Jews but also Muslims are "lately being confronted with mounting rejection which feeds from fear," Zypries said.

The minister pointed out many Germans simply were not capable of distinguishing properly between Islam and Islamist terror.

As a consequence many Muslims are faced with "discrimination because of their faith as some people link the Muslim faith automatically with Al-Qaeda and terrorism," added Zypries.

Muslims number 3.5 million out of Germany's population of over 82 million.
