Mubarak receives Lebanese Shiite leader

Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak received yesterday Sheikh Abd Al-Amir Qublan, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Shiite Council in Lebanon. Qublan termed the meeting as "distinguished," saying that it mainly dealt with the latest Arab developments, especially in Lebanon, along with the Lebanese-Syrian ties, and referred to Mubarak's stand in support of Lebanon.
Qublan said that talks took up the situation in Iraq, adding that Mubarak voiced preparedness to play any role that could serve all Iraqi sects.
