Israeli occupation army murders Palestinian taxi driver
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 5/5/2006
Israeli occupation troops yesterday killed in cold blood a Palestinian taxi driver in the northern West Bank, Palestinian sources and eyewitnesses reported.
The sources said Israeli troops shot and killed 37-year-old Zakariya Daraghmeh as he was trying to circumvent an Israeli checkpoint south of Nablus in an effort to reach his nearby home town of Tubas.
Fellow taxi driver Ahmed Najar described the killing as "a murder in broad daylight." "The man didn't provoke them, he was driving normally trying to bypass an Israeli roadblock. He was returning home. They killed him in cold blood." Other Palestinians confirmed that Daraghmeh, a father of four children, was trying to reach his hometown, via an unpaved road.
He was hit in the back and died shortly afterwards.
